“My cup runneth over" is a quotation from the Hebrew Bible (Psalms:23:5) and means "I have more than enough for my needs", but sometimes it just doesn’t feel that way or at least it’s hard to see. Why? Some may say selfishness some may say greed, and that very well could be the case, BUT I have found more often that for a lot of people it is because they need to recharge.
The saying fill your cup means to replenish yourself on a mental, emotional, and physical level. To truly take time and ‘recharge your battery.’
It is so hard to see the gifts that are literally truly right in front of us when we are busy chasing our tails around trying to jump from one chaotic moment to the next.
So, what can we all do to refill our cups?
For those who find themselves in this habit of always giving, always helping, always squeezing in that moment or event, only to find yourself feeling drained, your feet literally hurting, yourself sitting hunched over staring back at someone who “needs you to .....”
Here are some tips on how you can recharge yourself quickly and fill your cup:
1. Sleep in. Take your time getting up this weekend. Treat yourself to a morning of sleep!
2. My favorite... Get a spa treatment. Treat yourself to a massage, pedicure, manicure, facial, anything...just enjoy!
3. Play your favorite song, turn up the radio, get your energy flowing!
4. Go out with friends! Socialize, laugh, dance, meet new people!
5. Escape. Take a drive, discover a new place, enjoy the adventure!
6. Play with your kids. Have fun hanging with them. Listen to their laughter, them giggling will surely make you smile!
7. Try a new recipe! Let your creative juices flow and cook something yummy. (If you prefer takeout, try a new restaurant.)
8. And, if all else fails, take a bubble bath, soak your feet, watch a movie, meditate, enjoy nature, do yoga, walk your dog, or read a book!
Relax and enjoy time to fill your cup.
